James “Butch” Butcher, 78, of Liberty, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Sycamore Springs.
Butch was born August 24, 1934 in London, KY to Albert Prince and Sarah Marie McQueen Butcher. As a child he attended London area schools. On June 4, 1955, Butch married the former Patricia “Pat” Reed in Richmond, IN. After being married, the couple moved to the Los Angeles area for 20 years and later moved back to Richmond. Butch then realized that he could work year round in California and moved back only to find out that Indiana was home and moved back. Butch owned and operated Richmond Window Cleaning for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching sports, especially football and baseball, particularly the Cubs.
Butch is survived by his wife of 58 years; sons and their spouses: Mike Brite and Kathy of Frankfort, IN, Ron Fickle and Becky of Beech Grove, IN, Scott Stephenson, Randy Butcher and Nancy of Lynn, IN; daughters: Sue “Ann” Stephenson of Indianapolis, Paula Vega and her husband, Mike of Chino Hills, CA; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother: Roy McDaniel, Jr. and his wife, Faye; sisters and their spouses: Doris May of Richmond, Myrtle Spivey and Danny of Lexington, KY, Edna Blair and Tommy, Carol Gill and Donnie all of London, KY; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his brothers: Bill Butcher and Ed McDaniel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Pastor William Luellen of the Temple of God, Richmond officiating. Interment will follow at Elkhorn Cemetery in Wayne County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday where memorial contributions may be made to Wernle Children’s Home or Sycamore Springs Nursing Home.
