Jim Lacy, 69, of Liberty, died early Saturday morning, October 1, 2011, at his residence.
Jim was born December 28, 1941 in Wayne County to Gilbert William and Juanita Mae Parflow Lacy. He attended Wayne County schools and was a U.S. Army veteran where he served as a Private First Class with the 574th Engineering Company during the Viet Nam War. His military decorations included the Marksman, Rifle-M1 Medal. For over fourteen years, Jim was employed as a custodian at Union County Middle School. He enjoyed the outdoors, yard work and time he spent on the shooting range. Jim loved to be with his grandchildren and enjoyed the company of all children and his dogs. He was very generous with giving his time to help others and often mentored area children.
Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Marilou Roberts, whom he married January 7, 1967, in Liberty; two children and their spouses: Shawna Wilson and Eric of Circleville, Ohio; Kris Lacy and Laura of Union County; four grandsons: Eli, Timothy, Calvin and James Wilson; a granddaughter: Cora Wilson; two sisters: Barbara Hosenfeldt and her husband, Pete, of New Paris, Ohio; Mary Stockdale of Centerville; two brothers and their spouses: Tom Lacy and Marlene of Liberty; Terry Lacy and Kathy of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Lacy and a sister: Sandra Wikle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Rev. Jason Bantz of the College Corner Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Union County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Tuesday until the time of service.
