Connersville native, Jean Stewart, 69, of Connersville, died Thursday morning, October 23, 2014, at her residence.
Jean was born August 11, 1945 to Glen H. and Mary Hamilton Lykins and attended Connersville area schools. She was a member of Connersville Baptist Temple and had been employed over 32 years at Ford Electronics. Jean liked the outdoors, gardening and growing flowers. She was an avid NASCAR fan and followed Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Jean liked to bake and care for animals, but most enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Jean is survived by her children: Carla J. Russell and her husband, Greg of West College Corner; Doug Robinson of Connersville; her grandchildren and their spouses: Amanda Boulware and Brad, Brandy Baker and Ben, all of Connersville; Mitchell Robinson, James Austin Robinson, both of near Cincinnati; Holly Russell, Blake Russell, both of Richmond; great-grandchildren: Peyton Baker, Karli and Jager Boulware, Jordan Robinson; her step-children and their spouses: Richard Geise and Lourdes of Fairland, Kenna Wafford of Knightstown, Robert Geise and Billie of Connersville; eight step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and her dog, Daisy who was her constant companion.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two brothers: Glen R. Lykins, Willliam “Billy” Lykins; and Jerry L. Geise, her companion of 25 years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Troy Bishop of Western Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Humane Society.
