Jeffrey D. Byrd

Jeffrey D. Byrd, 66, died Friday afternoon, October 18, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. A Connersville native, Jeff was born July 10, 1953 to John L. and Virginia Marie Dunn Byrd. He was a 1971 graduate of Connersville High School. Following his graduation, he was employed at Ford Electronics and its successors for thirty years. Jeff loved to fish and had worked at Hi Way Spring Lakes near Cambridge City after retirement. He liked to watch football games and had been an active bowler. Jeff is survived by his siblings: John A. Byrd and his wife, Darlene of Connersville; Vicki L. Johnson and her significant other, Denver Witt of the Everton community; his sister-in-law: Sharon Nichols of Indianapolis; two grandchildren that he considered his own: Raychel Zook of Knighstown, Danielle Rader of Connersville; two nieces: Shawna Daras and Nicole Smith; a step-son: Larry Davis and his wife, Tina of Laurel; his step-sisters: Beverly Jones, Becky Ripberger and her husband, Rodney, all of Liberty; several cousins and his beloved Yorkie dog: Mickey. In addition to his parents, Jeff is preceded by his wife, the former Kathy Puckett; his brother: Jerry Nichols; his step-mother: Joan Byrd; and his niece: Debra Thompson. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myer Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Freddie Helton of the Everton Baptist Church officiating, accompanied by his wife, Patricia. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of service.
