Jerry L. Geise, 70, of Connersville, died Tuesday evening, January 10, 2012, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Jerry was the son of Paul L. and Mary Kathaline Caldwell Geise, born November 28, 1941 in Fountain City. As a young man, he worked as a farmhand while attending Bentonville Elementary School and was a 1961 graduate of Connersville High School. Jerry retired from Dresser-Roots and had also been employed at McQuay-Norris. He was a former member of the Moose, #1160, and was most proud of being appointed as a special deputy of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. Jerry was an accomplished carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. He liked to spend time in the garden and enjoyed the friendship of his dogs.
Jerry is survived by his companion of over 25 years: Jean Stewart; three children and their spouses: Richard Geise and Lourdes of Fairland; Kenna Wafford of Knightstown; Robert Geise and Billie of Connersville; six siblings and their spouses: Eugene Geise and Mary Alice of Falmouth, Juanita Berry of Lakeland, Florida; Virginia Stiers of Rushville, Mary Lou Rea and David of Knightstown, Betty Thomas and Don of Rushville, David Geise of Valparaiso; eight grandchildren: Ashley and Benjamin Geise; Kelly, Ryan and Rachel Huemann; Nathan, Morgan and Nolan Geise; two step-children: Carla Russell and her husband Gregg of West College Corner, Doug Robinson of Connersville; four step-grandchildren: Amanda Boulware and her husband, Brad; Brandy Baker and her husband, Ben, all of Connersville, Mitch and Austin Robinson, both of Cincinnati, Ohio; three step-greatgrandchildren: Peyton Downs, Karli and Jager Boulware; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Jean Sasser.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Ray Sweet of the Plum Creek Christian Church, Rush County, officiating, Interment will follow in Bentonville Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday where memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
