Joanna Lee Hisle, 63, of Connersville, died Friday morning, September 21, 2012, at University of Cincinnati Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Joanna was born February 2, 1949 in Hamilton, Ohio. On June 7, 1975, she was married in Jellico, Tennessee to Nelson E. Hisle, Sr. Joanna had been employed at Wayne Works in Richmond and served as the first and only female President of the United Auto Workers Union, Local 721. She had also been employed at Walmart in Oxford and Richmond where she was the manager of the cosmetic department and the photo lab. Joanna was a member of the Maple Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed playing bingo and watching movies. She was an excellent cook and her intricate crochet work earned her many blue ribbons at the local fair.
Joanna is survived by her children: Sheila Marie Lott of Nashville, Tennessee; Saunya Lee Harris of Connersville; Darin Duane Hisle and his wife, Linda of Liberty; her father: Elmer Reece and his wife, Kathleen of Camden, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law: Donald Russell and Sheila Mayberry of Hamilton, Ohio; a grandson: TreVaughn Lee Lott; several nieces and nephews and her dogs: Shyla, Maggie and Bambi.
Joanna was preceded in death by her Mother: Mary Marie Lewis Reece; her husband who died August 4, 2004; and two brothers: William Ronald Mayberry and Kevin Lawrence Reece.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty with Rev Dewey Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Union County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
