Rev. John David Bouldrey, 67, passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Rosebud Village in Richmond, Indiana. We know heaven is rejoicing and we can just hear John singing in the heavenly choir with his beautiful tenor voice.
John was born in Bryan, Ohio, on October 7, 1947, to Albert and Olieta Bumpus Bouldrey. He was a faithful servant of God and was called into the ministry at the age of sixteen. He ministered in the Church of the Nazarene beginning in 1970 on the Chicago Central District, then for thirty-four years on the Missouri District, and finally on the Indianapolis District where he retired in September 2014. He was a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and while there he sang in a gospel quartet for several years. His ministry and love of the Lord touched many lives over the years, including the years he drove school bus both in Missouri and Indiana. He enjoyed greeting the children each day as they boarded the bus and the children all loved him.
John is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Schweitzer Bouldrey of Liberty, IN; one son, Stephen of Front Royal, VA; three grandchildren: Timothy, Isabella, and Savannah; two sisters: Gail Bouldrey of Salem, Oregon and Beverly Enderli of Fairbury, IL; stepchildren: Christopher Cole of Liberty, IN and Kelly Cole Papenfus of Toledo, OH; and two step-granddaughters: Lily and Abigail Papenfus. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Barbara Hill Bouldrey, and a brother Carl.
Honoring John’s wishes, cremation will be followed by a memorial service celebrating his life on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Southview Church of the Nazarene, 2000 S. L Street, Richmond, IN 47374, beginning at 2:00 P.M. with a brief time of visitation before the service. Interment will be in Evansport, OH.
