John D. Murphy Jr.

John David Murphy Jr., 83, of Liberty, died Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Reid Health. John was born May 4, 1941, in Connersville to John David Murphy Sr. and Virginia Hyatt Murphy. He owned and operated Murphy Gas Company for sixty-two years, providing propane gas for over 12,000 homes. John was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (James) Pentecost of Connersville; granddaughter, Sophie Pentecost of Connersville; step-daughter, Billie (Scott) St. John of Manillia, Indiana; step-grandsons, Cody (Courtney) Hill of Liberty and Dustin Hill of Connersville; nephew, Randy (Judy) Smith of Connersville and niece Tammy (John) Schaefer of Jupiter Florida and many other nieces, nephews and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cathy Murphy and sister, Judy Calhoun. Memorial contributions may be made to Union County Adopt a Dog. A Committal service for John David Murphy Jr., will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Union Cemetery Garden of Memories, (North County Road 450E Connersville, Indiana 47331) with Father Dustin Boehm officiating.
