Johnny Keith Welborn

Johnny Keith Welborn, 51, of Liberty, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his residence after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born June 11, 1960 to Jerry and Jane Harvey Welborn, in Hamilton, Ohio. Johnny graduated from Union County High School in 1978 and from Purdue University in 1982 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He was currently employed by Sensus Precision Die Casting as a quality representative and had previously worked at Fernald Feed Materials Production and Ford. Johnny was a member of the College Corner Presbyterian Church, School Board Member for Union County College Corner Joint School District for four terms, and an avid supporter of Union County Athletics, coaching numerous youth athletic teams. Johnny will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his loving and gentle spirit, his forgiving attitude, his caring ways and his love of his family. Survivors include his wife: the former Tina Martin whom he married September 11, 1982; his parents; children: Katie Welty and her husband Aaron of Liberty, Jeremy Welborn of Greensburg, Ryan Welborn of Liberty, and Megan McClure and her husband Jake of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren: Lucas Michael Welty, plus one on the way; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joel and Sonya Welborn of Liberty; Jimmy and Toni Welborn of Elm City, North Carolina; Jay and Susan Welborn of Sumter, South Carolina; sister and brother-in-law: Jill and Rick Ray of Denver, Colorado; mother-in-law: Joan Martin of College Corner, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, and good friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents: Clifford and Jeanette Harvey, Basil and Evon Welborn, and father-in-law: Ivan Martin. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the College Corner Presbyterian Church at 5pm with Reverend Jason Bantz officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 1pm until the time of the service where memorial contributions may be made to the Union County High School Athletic Department or to the American Cancer Society.
