Joseph (Joe) Jones died Saturday evening, April 12, 2014 surrounded by family at Mercy Health West in Cincinnati. Joe was a long time resident of Alquina and had been living with his wife Martha in Cincinnati at Evergreen Retirement Community for the past two and a half years.
Joe was born March 29, 1919 in Mixerville, Ohio to parents Joseph Jones Sr. and Martha (nee Burer). He graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford, Ohio. He married Martha Fisher of Dunlapsville on February 14, 1942. During his life, Joe was a farmer, a truck driver and managed the Farm Bureau Co-op Lumber Yard in Connersville. He loved gardening and he loved his family.
In addition to his wife Martha he is survived by sons James (Diane) and Charles (Rita), grand children Kevin (Michelle), Angela (Shawn) Stein, Ryan, Dominic (Sara), Emily (Rob) Miller, Allison (Matt) Newman and Adam (Tia), Great-grandchildren Harrison, Colin and Palmer Jones, Kyle and Nolen Stein, Ella Miller, Ethan Jones and Marshall Newman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers James and Raymond and sisters Mary and Dorothy, a brother-in-law Henry Reuss and a sister-in-law May (nee Clevenger).
Fr. Stan Herber will preside at the mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon Wednesday, April 16th at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Liberty where Joe was a parishioner since 1938. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the mass where memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.
