Joyce Ann Winstead

Joyce Ann Winstead, 77, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Caroleton Healthcare Center of Connersville. Joyce was born to Patrick and Gladys Tussey Venable on January 17, 1943 in Jackson County, Kentucky. The family relocated to Connersville in 1955, where she graduated from Connersville High School. Joyce married Howard Winstead in 1967. For many years, she worked in grocery, with A&P, Kroger and Mace Foods. She eventually obtained her Cosmetology license, owning her own beauty shop. Lastly, she was employed by Fayette County School Corporation, as a janitor. She retired from there. Joyce was a member of Baptist Temple in Connersville. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, gardening, and remodeling houses with her late husband. Most of all, she loved reading her bible and spending time with her family. Joyce is survived by her daughters: Rynette R. Farris (Dion), Maulicia K. Alexander; granddaughters: Devyn Truitt (Jacob), Halle Farris, Kayla Alexander; great-granddaughter: Elena Truitt; nephew: Eric Housman (Stacy); great-nephew: Nathan Housman, great-niece: Emily Roberts. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by her infant daughter: Annette Lorelle Lunsford; twin sister: Brenda Housman; and nephew; Aaron Housman. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Friends may visit the funeral home from 12 until time of service. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery, section A, in Connersville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Alzheimer Association 50 E 91st Street, Suite 100 Indianapolis 46240 or St. Jude Research Center 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Following CDC guidelines, mask are required, and social distancing is to be maintained. Follow state guidelines, a maximum of 25 people will be permitted in the funeral home at one time.
