Karen L. Ruby, 66, of Richmond, died Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at Heritage House of Richmond.
A native of Laurel, Karen was born January 26, 1948 to Harry and Lucille Reardon Hammond and attended Laurel area schools. She was married to Donald Ruby, who precedes her in death. Karen was self-employed, selling fruit and vegetables at the local markets. She also enjoyed attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Karen is survived by her children: James Case, Billy Addison, Richard Addison, Michael Slusher; her granddaughter: Taylor Nicole Addison; nieces: Susie Dailey, Anita Pollock; special friends: Peggy Phelps and her husband, Thomas, Earl Scott; her beloved dog: Dollie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was preceded in death by nine sisters: Martha Hammond, Diane Hammond, Elizabeth Ann Sefton, Bertha Drew, Barbara Jean Hatch, Donna Lauer, April Lynn Hammond, Annabelle Powell, Betty McFerson; six brothers: Donald Lee Hammon, Loren Gene Hammond, Charlie Everett Hammond, Robert Hammond, Tommy Hammond, Harry Hammond.
Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, Ohio.
