Katherine L. Smith

Connersville native, Katherine L. Smith, 68, died Sunday, August 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Katherine, the only daughter of James “B” and Pauline Jenkins, was born on August 30, 1953. She married Donald “Don” Smith on August 6, 1990 in Jellico, Tennessee. Katherine was a homemaker who meticulously tended to her property inside and out. She always made sure the house was tidy and that her flower gardens were well maintained. Katherine enjoyed taking care of her many animals including her cats, dogs, and birds. She was an avid yard-saler who was always on the hunt for a good bargain. Katherine adored spending time with her family, especially her loving husband of 32 years. In addition to Don, Katherine is survived by her children and their spouses: Timothy and Ann Lockhart, Brian and Diane Lockhart, Michelle and Randy Goble; step-children: Donald and Teresa Smith, LaDonna and Steve Reinhardt, and Jaycen Smith; brother: James Jenkins; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends, too numerous to mention. Katherine is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Terry Jenkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Merle Seeley officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Everton Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
