Leslie F. Moffett passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, at Ambassador Healthcare, Centerville, Indiana.
Les was born on March 21, 1947, in Connersville to Earl F. Moffett and Patricia C. Hensley. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, being assigned to D Company, 4th Infantry Division.
On February 27, 1968, while in the Republic of Vietnam, Les was wounded in action, receiving the Purple Heart. Three months later, almost to the day, he was wounded in action. Once again receiving the Purple Heart. Les was a farmer and truck driver for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards. Les never met a stranger he was kind to everyone he met.
He is survived by daughters, Jennifer Canty (Guy Thomas) of Liberty and Christine (Corey) Pugh of Shelbyville, Indiana; 6 grandchildren; Leanne Steele, Michael Marcum, Austin Brandenburg, Nyx Canty, Elijah Gray-Batts and Isaiah Gray-Batts; 2 great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Summer Steele, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Les was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie Harmon Moffett; daughter, Melissa Chaney; parents; step-father, Charles Hensley; and ex-wife Connie Pollitt Moffett.
Burial with Military honors will be at the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
