Lois Ileen Blankenship Buchholz

Lois Ileen Buchholz, 82, formerly of Liberty, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Knolls of Oxford. On December 24, 1929 Lois was born in Effingham, Illinois to Edward and Myrtle Blankenship. She was married to the Rev. William Buchholz on October 26, 1956, and they moved to Liberty in 1974. Lois loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was known for her cooking. In her free time, she enjoyed making quilt blocks. Survivors include: three sons and their wives: John and Donna Buchholz of Richmond; Robert and Rozan Buchholz of Liberty; Ed and Marilynn Buchholz of Centerville; two daughters and their husbands: Alberta and Bob Simpson of Barnhill, Ill; Becky and Jim Flack of Shumway, Ill; a sister: Joyce French of Effingham, Ill; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; her caretakers and family at the Knolls of Oxford. Preceding Lois in death are: her parents: husband; a brother: Carl Blankenship; a sister: Becky McPeak; a grandson: Jimmy Simpson. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel in Liberty with Pastor Jeff Wolf of First Friends Meeting in Richmond officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 until 6 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
