Loral S. “Colonel” DuBois, 90, of Connersville, died Sunday afternoon, September 13, 2015 at Reid Health in Richmond.
A Connersville native, Loral was born August 15, 1925 to Orville William and Helen Gladys Sherwood DuBois and attended Connersville area schools including Connersville High School. In 1989, he retired from Design Manufacturing after twenty-four years of employment in the service department. Loral was also self-employed as an auctioneer for twenty-five years and had been a motorcyclist on the Connersville Police Department. On August 20, 2005, he was married to the former Sylvia S. Reeve, in Las Vegas, Nevada. For seventy-one years, Loral was a member of the American Legion Post 1 and was also a member of the Fairfield Masonic Lodge #98. He loved his family and his animals.
In addition to his wife, Sylvia, Loral is survived by his children and their spouses: Scott Bevington and Diana of Connersville; Tracy Oyer and Shawn of Lebanon, Ohio; his grandchildren: Abby and Noah Bevington of Connersville; Joel and Ty Lyon of Lebanon, Ohio; his siblings: Bernard D. Brown; Sally Apple and her husband, Gary; Dianne Reynolds and her husband, Robert; Douglas L. Brown and his wife, Sandy, all of Connersville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Loral is preceded in death by his brothers: Marion W. and William S. DuBois.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel with Reverend Malcolm Greene of the East Side United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Masonic services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Fairfield Lodge #98, F. & A. M.
