Lowell “Mac” Cooper, 68, of Oxford, Ohio, died Thursday evening, May 29, 2014, at his residence.
A College Corner native, Mac was born to Parke and Florence Cassidy Cooper August 2, 1945 and graduated in 1965 from College Corner High School. Following high school, he served I the U.S. Air Force and was a life member of the Liberty American Legion. On June 14, 1984, he was married in Hamilton, Ohio to the former Mary Ella Breen. Mac was a foreman at Square D in Oxford for many years and most recently had driven a delivery truck for AFG Glass in South Carolina. He was an avid softball player in College Corner and had coached for many years. Mac enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, working in his yard, Cincinnati Reds baseball and listening to country music, especially George Jones. He and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the country and most enjoyed time spent in South Carolina.
Mac is survived by his wife of almost 30 years; two sons: Randall Cooper and his wife, Shauna of Indianapolis and Timothy Cooper and his wife, Jamie of Liberty Township, Ohio; four step-children: Tina Wolf and her companion, Bobby Howard; Lisa Maddock and her husband, Chris, all of Liberty; Ronnie Wolf and his wife, Shawna of Las Vegas, Nevada; September Dawn Weaver of Oxford, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Claire and Caroline Cooper of Indianapolis, Joshua of Liberty Township, Ohio; Krista Stephen and her husband, Jeff of Trenton, Ohio; Clint Minter; Ashley Stewart and her husband, Robby, all of Liberty; Adam Maddock serving with the U.S. Navy in Baharan; Lindsey Ratliff of Liberty; Logan Ratliff of College Corner; Addison Wolf of Las Vegas, Nevada; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mac was preceded in death by six siblings: Earl, Jesse, Wilbur, Harold, Marie and Mildred; and a step-daughter: Julia Ratliff.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, Ohio, with Pastor Dean VanWinkle officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.
