Lowell Edwin Dubois, 97, of northwestern Fayette County, died Wednesday evening, December 20, 2017, at Fayette Regional Health Systems.
A Fayette County native, Lowell was born August 31, 1920 to Chester and Luella Moffett Dubois. He was a 1938 graduate of Harrisburg High School and had two additional years of education following his military service. In 1942, he entered the U.S. Navy where he honorably served during WW II before his discharge in 1945 as a Petty Officer Second Class while stationed in Australia. On December 14, 1946, he was married to the former Eileen Ochiltree at Central Christian Church. Together, they spent their career farming in Harrison Township. Lowell was a member of the Harrisburg Union Church, the Indiana Farm Bureau, American Legion, AMVETS, and Eagles. He and Eileen enjoyed playing cards as faithful members of the former Elks Lodge.
Lowell is survived by his wife of 71 years, Eileen; his children: Nancy Weeks and her husband, Dan; Lowell E. “Eddy” Dubois II, all of Connersville; his grandchildren and their spouses: Jay Weeks of Los Angeles, California; Megan Guerin and Keith of Seattle, Washington; Rachel Glisson and Chase of Naperville, Illinois; Danielle Weeks of Spokane, Washington; Chester Dubois and Lindsey, Kristin White and Jacob , all of Connersville; great-grandchildren: Brooklynne White, Joel Branson Dubois, Zachary Knight; Karly Tracy, Braelyn Riggins, Emerson Glisson and Matthew White; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by his siblings: Carroll Jay Dubois and Viola Fern Hawkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harrisburg Union Church with Pastors Bill Lowery and John Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council. Friends may visit at the church from 12 noon Saturday until the time of service.
