Lula Saylor

Lula Saylor, 80, of Connersville, died Friday evening, November 16, 2012 at Fayette Regional Health System. Lula was born in Gray Hawk, Jackson County, Kentucky, on October 14, 1932 to William Russell and Laura Moore Nunn and attended school there. Lula had owned the Headhunters Beauty Shop in Austin, Texas and had owned and operated three moving companies in Indianapolis, Linwood Mover, H & H Movers and Caravan Movers. She had also owned and operated the Sunset Motel in Charlottesville. Lula was an avid bingo player and loved animals. She had attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a past member of the AMVETS, VFW, Moose Lodge and American Legion. Lula is survived by her children and their spouses: Carrol Byrd and Marvin, Kimberly Davidson and Jeff, Henry Clay Saylor Jr. and his fiancé, Tonya Martin, all of Connersville; eight grandchildren: Jerry Boyce, Jr. of Pennsylvania; Michelle Shoemaker of Oklahoma; Deanna Russell of Cambridge City; Stacy Boyd , Jason Marshall, both of Connersville; Henry Clay Saylor III, Ciara Saylor, Jayden Davidson of Connersville; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers and their spouses: Carlos Nunn and Donna, Dallas Ray Nunn and Linda, all of Connersville; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Saylor who died in November of 1973; her son: Christopher S. “Butch” Duncil who died in November of 1971; three brothers: Lucien, Mance, Raleigh; four sisters: Marie McCarroll, Mabel Weaver, Bertha Harrison, Gertrude Fox. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon Tuesday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society or to the Fayette County Humane Society.
