Former Connersville resident, Madeline K. Sanderson, 90, died Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Spring Hills-Singing Woods in Dayton, Ohio.
Madeline was born in the Chaires community of Leon County, Florida, May 21, 1928, to Walter S. and Martha Isabell Connell Key. In 1946, she graduated from Monticello High School in Jefferson County, Florida. Madeline continued her education at Lively Vocational School in Tallahassee, Florida, studying bookkeeping and shorthand. On June 3, 1946, she married Henry “Jack” Sanderson who died in 1994. Together, they enjoyed camping and horseback riding. Madeline was employed in the insurance business for 41 years, first with Frank and Lloyd Insurance and later at A.E. Barrows Insurance, both of Connersville. She retired July 1, 1990. Madeline was a charter member of both the Calvary Baptist Church and the Connersville Baptist Temple. She also had been an active member of the Spoon Spinners Fayette County Extension Homemakers Club.
Madeline is survived by her daughter and her husband: Cheryl M. Hart and Randy of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law: Cynthia Key, Tallahassee, Florida; her special lifetime friend: Cindy Ash and her husband, Donald of the Glenwood community; two step-grandsons, two step-great-grandchildren, a step-great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews, including Elisa Gray and Leslie Fender.
In addition to her parents and husband, Madeline was preceded in death by her siblings: Jewell, Norman and J.W. Key.
Public graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in section L at Dale Cemetery.
