Mary Alice Irrgang, 85, of Connersville, died Saturday evening, May 11, 2013, at Caroleton Manor Nursing Center where she had resided since 2008.
Mary Alice was born in Everton, July, 21, 1927 to Frank Verdi and Lena Mae Underhill Allen and was a 1945 graduate of Everton High School. On July 29, 1950, she married in Everton to Howard “Skeeter” Irrgang who died March 27, 2012. Mary Alice had been employed at Stant Manufacturing for 42 years as well as helping Howard farm in the Everton and Orange communities. She was an exceptional mother and took great joy in being a grandmother. She made the best fried chicken and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Mary Alice is survived by her daughter, Luann Irrgang of Connersville; her grandchildren: Chad Cranfill & Heather; Jeremy Cranfill & Kristy, all of Connersville; Jason Irrgang of Ft. Wayne; her great-grandchildren: Chase Irrgang, Regan, Makayla, Maranda and Matthew Cranfill; her sisters-in-law: “Peg” Rowland; Eilene Irrgang, both of Connersville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband of 61 years, Mary Alice was preceded in death by her two sons: Mark and Terry Irrgang; three brothers: Chester, Clifford, & Wayne Allen; two sisters: Emily Moore and Irene Williams.
Rev.Fuzzy Lake will officiate at the funeral service for Mary Alice at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Everton Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society, P.O.
