Mary E. Davis, 105, of Richmond, died on Monday, November 17, 2014, at the Sterling House in Richmond.
Mary was born in Indianapolis on June 15, 1909, to Lloyd and Ethel Highley Harmeyer. She lived most of her life in Union County and was a 1929 graduate of Kitchel High School. Mary was a homemaker, farm wife, and a part time bus driver and a member of Hanna’s Creek Christian Church. She crocheted over 200 baby blankets for University Hospital in Cincinnati. Mary enjoyed sewing, reading, and jigsaw puzzles.
Mary is survived by three sons: Duane Davis of St. Louis; Gary Davis and wife Lu Ann of Liberty, and Neil Davis and wife Joy of Connersville; three daughters: Donna Stevens and husband Dale of Liberty, Sharon Lafuze and husband Duane of Liberty, and Sandra Wehrley and husband Darrell of Fairfield, OH; two sisters: Marjorie Luker of Richmond, and Joanna Ach of Cincinnati; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-six great – grandchildren; fifty-two great – great – grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Dale Davis who died May 29, 1985; one brother, Arthur Harmeyer; a sister: Frances Overbeck; and two grandchildren: Alan Davis and Tyler Wehrley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22nd, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, in Liberty with Rev. Scott Bell of Edwards United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery in Wayne County.
