Maxine Grubbs, 87, of Connersville, died Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Reid Hospital.
On January 21, 1924 Maxine was born in Posey County to Earl and Elva Throckmorton Noah. Maxine married Delmar Grubbs on January 19, 1963 in Connersville. She retired from Visteon in 1986, having also worked for the Franklin Casket Company from 1954 until its closing in 1971. Maxine was a charter member of the Baptist Temple and enjoyed being a part of the Ladies Group at the church. Family always came first in Maxine’s life.
Maxine is survived by her children and their spouses: Ray and Jean Milligan, of Connersville; Mary and Lee Montgomery, of Rushville; two sisters: Julia Hamilton and Fay Poe, both of Connersville; six brothers: James Noah of Detroit, Michigan; John Noah, Doug Noah, both of Florida; Evert Noah, of Connersville; Donald Noah, Larry Noah, both of Clarksburg; five grandchildren and their spouses: Dawn and Michael Hottman, of Connersville; Gary and Judy Allen, of Rushville; Mary Lorene Tillison, of Connersville; Paulette Allen, of West Port; Dewey Paul, Cheryl Allen, of Rushville; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters: Jessie Pepper, and Retha Kelly; four brothers: Clarence Noah, Albert Noah, Carter Noah, Russell “Buck” Noah; a grandson: Scott Milligan; a great-grandson: Brandon Tyler Scott Milligan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Tim Billups officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Lord’s Table.
