Mary Ellen Huffman

Mary Ellen Huffman, age 85, of Connersville, Indiana, died Saturday, June 24, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born April 27, 1938, to Carl Francis and Florence Cecilia Grogan Pitstick in Connersville, Indiana. She was a 1956 graduate of Connersville High School. Mary graduated with her Cosmetology license from the Anderson Beauty School. She then graduated from Ivy Tech, Fort Wayne with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Mary started her career as a beautician, then as a nurse with the Veterans Administration, all the while caring for her family as a homemaker. She is survived by daughters, Linda Vandagriff (Floyd) of Greenfield, Indiana, Lori Ann Gay (Steven) of Connersville and Jennifer Sue Huffman of Fort Wayne; sister, Elaine Sargent of Connersville; sister in law, Linda Pitstick of Bright, Indiana; brother in law, Mike Huffman (Steven Reyes) of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis Huffman; son, Gregory Scott Huffman; parents; brothers, William F. Pitstick (Toots), James C. Pitstick (Glee Ann) and David A. Pitstick; sister, Lois Pitstick Harmeyer (Roy); brothers in law, Phil Sargent and Max Huffman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Veterans Council, 905 East Hanson Drive Connersville, Indiana 47331. Visitation for Mary Ellen Huffman will be 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, 920 Central Avenue, Connersville, Indiana. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Dustin Gay officiating. Burial will be in Valley Grove Cemetery.
