Melva H. Clark, 87, of Connersville died Thursday evening, July 23, 2015 at Lincoln Centers West.
Melva was born in Jackson County, Kentucky January 12, 1928 to John Walker and Bessie Russell Harrison and later attended Connersville area schools, including Connersville High School. In 1946, she was married to Chester Clark Sr., who died in March of 1972. After being employed at Safeway Taxi for ten years, Melva owned and operated Clark’s Spartan Country Taxi until her retirement. She was a fun loving philanthropist; providing shelter and delivering food, especially donuts, to those in need. Melva was a passionate reader and found pleasure in dancing and traveling. Melva found her faith later in life and was also known for being a great person.
Melva is survived by her children: John Robert Clark; Chester Clark, Jr., both of Connersville; Charles J. Clark of Everton; Diana S. Cox and her husband, Eugene of College Corner, Ohio; Gloria J. Clark; her daughter-in-law: Patty Clark; her beloved niece: Bonnie Pollock, all of Connersville; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Melva is preceded in death by her son: Mark David Clark; her sister: Mary M. Worrell; her grandsons: Eugene Cox, Jr.; Shawn Clark; her daughter-in-law: Brenda Clark.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday July, 27, 2015 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Connersville, with Pastor Jeff Meadows from Community Gospel Church and Pastor Jeff Hensley from Full Gospel Holiness officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Fayette County Animal Shelter.
