Merlin C. Kluger, 81, of Brookville, died on Tuesday, January 13, 2014, at Reid Hospital and Healthcare Services in Richmond.
Merlin was born in Morristown, Saturday, September 9, 1933, to Carl and Myrtle Clegg Kluger. He graduated with the class of 1951 from Morristown High School and was a 1958 graduate of Butler University. On Friday, March 6, 1959, Merlin married the love of his life, Betty Long, in Indianapolis. He served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War. Merlin was a CPA and was the Vice President for over 20 years at Sperry Plastics and Rubber in Brookville. During the time of his career, he was one of two CPAs in Franklin County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Connersville and the joys of life were playing cards, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Merlin is survived by two sons: Robert Kluger of Brookville, and Richard G. Kluger and wife Carijane of Indianapolis; one daughter: Cindy Morgan and husband Carl of Liberty; six grandchildren: Patrick Kluger, Alexandra Kluger; Zackary Morgan, Joshua Morgan, Courtney Morgan, and Mary Ellen Morgan; two sisters: Sandra Linville of Shelbyville, and Jacquelyn Meal of Connersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cecilia Carey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17th, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel in Connersville, with Ron Wylie officiating. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
