Mike Brockman, 45, of the Springersville community, died Monday, December 5, 2016 at Reid Health, Richmond.
The son of Robin and Brenda Lakes Brockman, Mike was born April 18, 1971 in Connersville. Mike attended area schools and graduated from Union County High School in 1989. He greatly enjoyed playing high school basketball and continued to play throughout his life. Mike also participated in Little League and All Star baseball and played football in junior high school. Mike had been employed at Klosterman’s Bakery in Morristown but most recently he owned and operated Brockman Mattress Sales in Indianapolis. He was an avid Colts fan and especially liked Peyton Manning. In his leisure time, Mike liked to fish, play corn hole and take family vacations. His favorite pastime was attending his daughter, Michaela’s, sporting events, he was especially proud of her athletic abilities.
Mike is survived by his son: Drew Smith of Portland, Oregon; his daughter and granddaughter: Michaela Brockman and Riley of Bedford; his mother and step-father: Brenda L. Wooley and James of Liberty; his siblings: Gabriel Wooley of Lexington, Kentucky; Curtis Wooley of Liberty; Venus Lingg and her husband, Rodney of Connersville; his niece and nephew: Jordyn and Carson Lingg and several cousins.
Mike is preceded in death by his father: Robin Brockman; his infant sister: Media Wooley; his grandparents: Harold and Jean Brockman; Carlton and Eileen Wooley; Ruby and Gooley Lakes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Eric Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel North Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 until the time of service Saturday where memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
