Connersville native, Nilah Fettig, 97, died Saturday afternoon, June 24, 2017, at Markle Heath and Rehabilitation in Markle. Nilah was born September 17, 1919 to Ralph and Grace Smith Bowen. She was a graduate of Orange High School and Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. On December 21, 1940, she was married to Charles W. “Chuck” Fettig who died September 28, 1993. Nilah had been employed at Fayette County Farm Bureau Co Op until her retirement. She was a member of Central Christian Church and was an excellent cook. Her family was her life. Nilah is survived by her children and their spouses: Peter Fettig and Vernell of Ft. Wayne, Sara Mills and Phillip “Pete” of Richmond, Fred Fettig and Chuck Orton of Hickory, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters and their spouses: Laura Earlywine and Phillip of Richmond, Amelia McArdle and E.G. of Ft. Wayne, Nelwyn Hayes and Drew of Tampa, Florida; nine great-grandchildren: Keegan, Peter, Kellyn and William McArdle of Ft. Wayne; Lily, Cooper and Caroline Hayes of Tampa, Florida; Elly Earlywine of Gainesville, Florida, Erin Earlywine of Indianapolis, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Nilah was preceded in death by her sisters: Mabel Murphy and Hazel Adams. Public memorial graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Jeffrey Deaton of Central Christian Church at Dale Cemetery, section A, on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, 800 N.
