Rev. Noel Lunsford, Sr. 76, of Connersville who was a mighty man of God, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family, Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis.
Noel was born October 20, 1936 in Connersville, one of ten children of Delbert and Plina Templeton Lunsford. He was employed early in life at National Metal, Design and Manufacturing and Caroleton Manor Nursing Home as the maintenance technician. He enjoyed being around people so much he retired three times, most recently as a driver with Fayette County Transportation. Noel enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family. One of his most enjoyable things in his life was going to church where he taught, preached God’s word and sang with his wife. He was a member of Greensfork Holiness Church and taught Sunday school there.
Noel is survived the love of his life, the former Edith Johnson, whom he married in Richmond, November 27, 1955; three children and their spouses: Noel Anthony “Tony” Lunsford and Charlotte of Texas; Anita Hubbard and Jim of Hagerstown; Sharon Cranfill and Russell of Connersville; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; ever so loved former daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Lunsford; two sisters: Edna Wadle of Connersville and Loretta Blankenbeckler and Eldon of Milton; a brother: James Lunsford and Kathy of Connersville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Martha; four brothers: Leonard, Charles, Herman and Milton; two sisters: Alpha Marcum and Della Sidell Marcum; a granddaughter: Laura Marie Lunsford.
A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 pm Monday at the family church, Eastside Pentecostal, 310 Davis St., Connersville, with his nephew Reverend Phil Marcum officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Garden of Memories, Fayette County. Friends may visit at the church on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the House of Ruth, 322 Summit Ave., Connersville.
