Norma J. Kelley, 79, formerly of Connersville, died Monday, January 4, 2016, at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
Norma was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky, January 11, 1936, to Robert and Bessie Rice Smith. On January 25, 1952, she was married in Brookville to Robert L. Kelley who died March 15, 2013. Norma attended church faithfully and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She also attended Early Methodist Church in Connersville. She had been employed at Miller’s Cafeteria in Connersville for over 25 years. In her leisure time, Norma enjoyed reading and memorizing scripture from the Bible.
Norma is survived by six children and their spouses: Rhea A. Kelley of Connersville, Judy B. Thomas and Jonathan L. of Hobe Sound, Florida; Gerald D. Kelley and Lois of Sullivan, Marvin D. Kelley and Diane of Connersville, Bobby G. Kelley and Joyce of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Douglas S. Kelley and Anna M. of Greenwood; eighteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a brother: John Stone and his wife, Eva of Connersville; a brother: Charles Smith; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Norma was preceded in death by her Father: Robert Smith; her Mother: Bessie Rose; an infant daughter: Sonja Joy Kelley; a sister: Nada Wiseman; and a great-granddaughter: Brianna Jackie Baldwin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday where memorial contributions may be made to the Early Methodist Chapel in Connersville.
