Pansy L. Sheffy, 81, of Connersville, died early Friday morning, June 7, 2013, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Pansy was born May 22, 1932 in Laurel, one of eleven children of Merle and Edna J. Ward Gaddis. She attended Franklin and Fayette County schools and was married in Connersville on August 4, 1952 to Robert J. “Bob” Sheffy. Pansy devoted her time to caring for her family. She had served as President of the American Legion Auxiliary in Connersville and the Fayette County Women’s Democrat Club. Pansy liked to work puzzle books and cross-stitch. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Game Show Network.
Pansy is survived by her husband of over 62 years; her daughter: Pamela Jane Sullivan of Connersville; her grandchildren: Robert, Delbert and Regina Sullivan, all of Connersville; her great-grandchildren: Harley Sullivan, Dylan Sullivan, both of Connersville; Devin Black of Indianapolis, Cameron Sullivan of New Castle; her sister: Nancy Lengle and her husband, Edgar of Connersville; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Pansy is preceded in death by four sisters: Dorothy Allen, Freda Evans, Lucy McIntyre, Delores “Dodie” Gaddis; and five brothers: Bernard, Herschel, Clifford, Brice and Eldon Gaddis.
Funeral services for Pansy will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery.
