Paul M. Silade, 95, of Connersville, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at his residence.
Paul was a native of Dercske, Hungary, born October 8, 1919 to Dr. Pal Szilagyi and Irene Sebesy Szilagyi. He earned his bachelor of engineering degree from the University of Engineering in Budapest, Hungary. In 1944, he left Hungary and resided in Germany until he emigrated to the United States in 1949. On March 27,1965, he was married in Bergholz, New York to the former Dolores E. Moll. Paul held professional engineering licenses in Indiana and Florida. He was employed at H.H. Robertson in Connersville until his retirement in 1987. He then owned and operated his own firm, Structural Design until 1992. Paul was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He enjoyed classical music, ballroom dancing, sailing and was an avid photographer.
Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years to the day; his sister Lili Stinner of Sopron, Hungary and three nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister Marta Zahonyi and his brother Bandi Szilagyi.
Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.,Tuesday at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2907 Virginia Avenue, Connersville, with Rev. Gene Ott officiating. Interment will be in Holy Ghost Lutheran Cemetery, Bergholz, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church.
