Phyllis J. Hinners

Phyllis June Hinners, 88, of Connersville died Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Heritage House Healthcare Center. Phyllis was born March 24, 1936, to Edward E. and Emma A. Koeppel Greene, in Connersville. She was a 1954 graduate of Connersville High School and a 1957 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. On August 22, 1964, Phyllis married Norman E. Hinners. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Fayette Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Phyllis enjoyed needle craft, making many things for family and friends. She was an avid Bingo player. Phyllis also loved reading, playing solitaire and working on jig saw puzzles. She was known by many as the “Scrubby Queen” at local craft shows. She seemed to always have a knitting project in the works. She is survived by her four daughters, Susan E. (Bart) Pitstick of Connersville, Jane E. Smith of Indianapolis, Lori K. (David) Sams of Laurel and Diana L. Phillips of Connersville; six grandchildren, Gena (Thomas) Brannon, Casie Smith, Vince (Stephanie) Pitstick, Cody Smith, Derrick (Sierra) McNeely and Neil Pitstick; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends. Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Norman E. Hinners, who died, May 5, 1995; parents; brother, Dale E. “Pinkie” Greene; grandson, Riley Pitstick and son-in-law, Jim Phillips. Funeral Service for Phyllis June Hinners will be Monday, April 1, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville, Indiana. Friends may call 11:00 a.m. until time of service, Monday April 1 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery.
