Connersville native Raland Ray Frasher, 78, died Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Reid Health Hospital of Richmond.
Raland was born to Merle and Hazel Hibbard Frasher on August 17, 1944 in Connersville. He graduated from Connersville Senior High School with the class of 1962. On October 18, 1969, he married the former Jean Ash at the East Side Methodist Church. Raland had worked at D & M and then was the assistant store manager at the Maces Grocery Store in Connersville. He later became the head store manager for the Maces Grocery Store in Franklin, Indiana. Raland left Maces and joined Frito-Lay as a route salesman. In January 2012, Raland retired from Frito-Lay with over thirty-eight years of faithful service. An avid outdoorsman, Raland loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed trying his luck at different casinos and traveling with groups of long-time friends on various bus/van tours around the country. He loved cheering on his favorite sport teams, which included IU Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. He was a life-time member of the Eagles Lodge of Connersville and past member of the Moose Lodge of Connersville. His most treasured possession was his family; he loved spending time with his wife of fifty-three years, three children and four grandchildren.
Raland is survived by his wife: Jean; his daughter: Leslie Duffin; his sons: Sean Frasher and Ryan Frasher and his wife, Lori; grandchildren: Grady Duffin, Langley Duffin, Brody Frasher and Maren Frasher; brothers: Jimmy Frasher and his wife, Vickie, Chris Frasher and his wife, Wanda; sisters: Peggy Lykins, Joyce Frasher, Janie King; brother-n-law and sister-n-law: Jim and Sandy Scott; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother: Woody Frasher and his brother-in-law: Carl “Junior” Lykins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Ellis McQueen officiating. Friends and family may gather from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery Garden of Memories near Springersville. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The Fayette County Cancer Society in Raland’s honor.
