Raymond Mark Jones, age 86 of Richmond and formerly of Liberty, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Raymond was born April 2, 1926 in Bath to Joseph and Martha Burer Jones. He was a 1944 graduate of Short High School in Union County. On June 3, 1950, he was married to the former Leona May Clevenger at the St. Bridget Rectory in Liberty. Ray served his country in WW II and in the Korean War. Ray operated a Mobil Service Station for 40 years and following retirement, he worked for Medrico, Inc. and Co-Op Country Corner part-time. Ray enjoyed gardening and loved visiting family and friends.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 62 years, May Jones; his daughters and their spouses: Kathy Ramey and Mark of Liberty; Karen Faverty and Jon of Hudson, Florida; Karla Kaufman and Ron of Richmond; Kendra Brooks of Lakeland, Florida; 15 Grandchildren; 21 Great-Grandchildren; brothers: Joseph W. Jones of Cincinnati Ohio; James P. Jones of Liberty; his sister: Dorothy J Jones of Fairfield, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Mary Reuss; three nephews: Stevie Reuss, Tommy Reuss and George Reuss; and a son-in-law: James Brooks.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 pm Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel Liberty. Interment will follow with in Calvary Cemetery south of Liberty with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 122 and VFW Post 1473. Friends may visit at the funeral home 10 am Friday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
