Rex Dean Clark, 80, of West College Corner died on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford.
Rex was born in West College Corner on December 27, 1934, to Albert and Martha Alice May Clark. He graduated in 1952 from College Corner High School and married Mary Lou Chalfant on July 3, 1954, at the Presbyterian Church in College Corner. Rex enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and faithfully served his country for twenty-three years before retiring. His service also included serving in Korea and Viet Nam. In 1974, Rex graduated from the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs. He was Ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in 1984, in Roseville, California, and served as pastor, youth director, and Associate Pastor at College Corner Church of the Nazarene where he was a member. Rex loved his God, his Bible, witnessing to people, and playing golf.
In addition to his wife of over sixty years, Rex is survived by a son: James Kevin Clark of Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Ralph “Bud” Dicken; two sisters: Kathryn Pace Dicken and Evelyn Mae Barrett.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the College Corner United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Gentry of the College Corner Nazarene Church officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post #1472. Friends may visit at the Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26th where memorial contributions can be made to College Corner Nazarene Church.
