Richard L. Henry Sr. 75, of Connersville, died peacefully at his residence, Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Richard was born April 11, 1943 in Connersville to Clara Roszell and Robert Lee Henry. He attended Fayette County schools and was a lifelong resident of Connersville. For over six years, Richard served in the U.S. Army where he received top security clearance while working with Nike and Hercules missiles. Richard was employed for sixteen years at the Fayette County Highway Department including ten years as the superintendent. Later, he was hired as the Connersville Street Department Supervisor. He was a member of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department as a Reserve Officer for 18 years, retiring as a jail officer. Richard leaves behind his former wife, Sharon Kaye Hamilton Henry; two daughters: Sherri Rybolt and her husband, Nick of Connersville; Judy Henry and her significant other, Steve Bennett of Springersville; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Cheryl Cooper, Carleen Jenkins, Karen Miller and husband, Harry; his half-sister: Jackie Sue Shepard and her husband, Wayne of Arizona; three special cousins: Delbert and Judy Dickey and Lori Ann Steele, all of Connersville; and his beloved dog: Sammy. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his son: Richard Lee Henry Jr.; his grandparents: Ernest and Goldie Mansfield; half-brothers: Bernard Michael Lunsford and Charles R. “Chuckie” Hammil, Jr.; and his former son-in- law: Jay Jackson. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the funeral home.
