Rita A. Jones

Rita Ann Jones, 56, of Connersville, died Thursday morning, October 24, 2013 at Fayette Regional Health System. Rita was born November 10, 1956 in Rushville to Robert and Norma Copple Evans. She was a 1975 graduate of Connersville High School and was a member of the St. Gabriel Church. On June 27, 1975, Rita married Jeffrey Jones at St. Gabriel Church. Rita had been employed at Res Care in New Castle, ACE in Liberty and as a case worker with the Fayette County Division of Family and Children. She had also worked at Ames, WalMart and Kmart, all in Connersville. She loved caring and helping others. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family, especially boating and water skiing at the lake. Rita is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jeffrey Jones; her children: Janet R. Jones and her fiancé, Josh Steele of Connersville, twins: Julie R. Jones and Jeffrey R. Jones, both of Bloomington; her parents: Robert and Norma Evans of Connersville; her siblings and their spouses: Joan McDivitt and Tim of Connersville, Cindy Barrett and Kenneth of Indianapolis, David Evans of Glenwood, Cathy Whitecotten, Pam Northern and Jerry, Danny Evans and Jayi, Michael Evans and Janice, all of Connersville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Rita is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Mildred and Wilbur Copple; her paternal grandparents: Floyd Henry and Kate Evans; and two nephews. A Celebration of Rita’s Life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Reverend Stanley Herber officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
