Robert “Bob” Hiatt, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Liberty, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
Bob was born in Union County on April 2, 1935, to Chester A. and Edna Ramey Hiatt. . He was a 1953 graduate of Short High school. On April 10, 1954, he married Patricia Stant and they enjoyed over 62 years of marriage together. Bob served his country from June 3, 1957 to May 21, 1959 in the United States Army. He was employed as a carpenter in construction and was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ. Bob enjoyed working with wood, singing, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by a son: Timothy Hiatt of Chicago; a daughter: Jill Hiatt McCammon and husband Steve of Louisville; a brother Donald Hiatt and his wife Jeannine of Richmond; a grandson: Kyle Dean McCammon; several nieces and nephews; and his special dog, Taffy. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dale and Darrell Hiatt.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at the Liberty Church of Christ with Pastor David Soper officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery with Military Graveside Services conducted by American Legion Post 122 and VFW Post 1473 of Liberty. Friends may visit at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel in Liberty from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2016, where memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
