Sallie L. Wilson

Sallie L. Wilson, 88, of Connersville, passed away Tuesday 18, March 2015 at Fayette Regional Hospital. Sallie was born 4 April 1928 in Connersville to William Leroy and Lillian May Pearson Gibson and was a 1946 graduate of Connersville High School. On 5 September 1948, she was married at Fairview Christian Church to John Calvin Wilson who died in 1989. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Christian Church and had been employed as a nurse’s aide at Jackson Nursing Home in Rushville. Sallie enjoyed crocheting and reading, including reading her Bible daily. Sallie is survived by her children and their spouses: John Wilson and Janice of Connersville, Cathy McDanel and Bruce of Lawton, Oklahoma; two grandsons: Tony and BJ; a step-grandson: Daniel; three sisters and their husbands: Doshia Foster, Joyce Steele and Jake, all of Connersville; Nancy Fleenor and Marvin of Homer; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Sallie was preceded in death by her brothers: Ronald L. and William A. Gibson. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel Connersville, with ministers George Huff and Shawn Tipton officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Burial Grounds in Rush County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
