Sheila Ann Hood

Connersville resident, Sheila Ann Hood, 64, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. Sheila was born to Edwin “Dude” and Nora “Helen” Roark Hanna, on June 11, 1956. The family moved from Fairfield, Indiana to Connersville in 1962. She attended Connersville High School, graduating with the class of 1974. On April 5, 1975 Sheila married Larry E. Hood at Everton Church; together they spent 22 years, prior to his death in 1997. Sheila was employed with Miller’s Cafeteria as head baker, prior to receiving her CNA license from the former Lincoln Center. For the last twenty-one years, Sheila has been proudly employed with the Fayette County School Corporation as a health aide. She was a faithful member of the Old Franklin Church in Brookville, and a 4-H leader in Connersville. Sheila was a Past Matron, served as District Deputy #5 twice, chaired many state committees, and was currently the chapter treasurer of the Order of the Eastern Star, Brookville Chapter #449, OES. She enjoyed tending to her garden, canning her vegetables, and making her special jellies and jams. In addition, Sheila enjoyed baking cakes, pies and was even known to make a few wedding cakes during her time at Miller’s Cafe. Above all, Sheila loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, co-workers, and the community. Sheila is survived by her daughters: Nancy Ann Bohlander and her husband Jason, Hannah Nicole Hood, all of Connersville; brothers: Edwin “Eddie” Hanna, Kyle Robert Hanna, David Wayne Hanna; sister: Melody Jean Hanna of Connersville; grandchildren: Lane, John, Trent; mother-in-law: Marylou Hood; brothers-in-law: Scott Hood, Joe Hood; several nieces and nephews; many friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Sheila is preceded in death by her nephew: Josh Smith; father-in-law: Ellis Hood; brother-in-law: Danny Hood. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Kids Account: To purchase clothes and shoes for children in need, c/o Nancy Bohlander or to the Fayette County 4-H Support Group.
