Shelly M Bell, 83, of Jacksonville, Florida and former Connersville resident, died Monday, July 11, 2011 at Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville.
Shelly was born in Cottonwood, Missouri, July 19, 1927 to Edgar and Lillie May Butler. She followed her sister to Connersville and was employed at Ford Electronics and Refrigeration for 27 years, retiring on July 19, 1989. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the I.U.E. Local 919. Shelly enjoyed her garden and growing flowers for arranging. She loved going to the ocean and walking on the beach. Shelly collected roosters and baked bread as gifts for others. However, spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always took precedence.
Shelly is survived by her three children and their spouses: William G. Bell and Gloria of Laurel, Patricia A. Basford of Jacksonville, Florida, Carolyn B. Hayes and Eddie of Richmond, Kentucky; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters and their spouses: Mary Lang and Marlin of Largo, Florida, Della Lambaro and Mike of Plainfield; two brothers: her twin, Shirley Ray “Red” Butler and his wife, Jewel of Franklin, Ohio, Raymond Butler of Connersville; several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Shelly was preceded in death by four sisters: Stella and Helen Butler, Gracie Hawkins, Erva Jo Glozer; three brothers: Floyd, Lloyd and Fay Butler and her former husband: William A. “Bud” Bell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor John Reynolds of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery.
