Shirley Ann Smith

Shirley Ann Smith, 78, of Connersville and formerly of Florida, died peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Shirley was born on February 27, 1946 to the late Kenneth J. Taylor and Thelma C. Chapman Fleener in Wooster, Ohio. Shirley was employed at Ford in Connersville, and later became a landscaper in Florida. She was an exceptional ceramic artist. For many years she poured, fired and meticulously hand painted all of her wonderful works of art. Shirley placed 1st in the Fayette County Fair with her ceramic entry. In addition, she enjoyed cooking, knitting, and taking trips to the Casino. Shirley was one of a kind; she will be missed dearly. Shirley is survived by her sons: Rodney Short, Randy Short, Robbie Chapman; grandchildren: Misty Short, Zoey Chapman, Wolfgang Brook-Chapman; brother: Melvin Taylor; several nephews and nieces including Michelle and Will Caldwell. In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Stewart Smith; canine companion: Bunny. At Shirley’s request no services will be conducted. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society in her honor.
