Simona Sue Overbeck, 66, of Liberty, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Simona was born June 18, 1946 in Connersville to Berneil and Clara Howell Young. She attended school in Laurel and was most proud to later receive her GED from Connersville High School. Simona was a member of the First Baptist Church in Connersville and retired from Visteon and its predecessors after thirty years of service. She had done extensive research of the Overbeck genealogy and had collected Beanie Babies that she donated to area children. Simona liked to spend time with her family and friends and always had a camera ready for the next picture. She loved to decorate and was a collector of knick-knacks.
Simona is survived by her husband, David L. Overbeck whom she married June 18, 1988 at the First Baptist Church in Connersville; two daughters and their husbands: Dena Gail Zornes Weaver and Daniel of Shelbyville; Vivian Lea Zornes Loman and Brad of Connersville; a step-daughter: Shay D. Herrman and her husband, Christopher of Centerville; grandchildren and their spouses: Derek Weaver and Leslie of Greenwood; Danielle Weaver, Drew Weaver, both of Shelbyville; Serenity Miller and Andy of Panama City, Florida; Katlin Lowman of Connersville; Monica Herrman of Centerville; Charles David Overbeck of New Castle; Branden Krammes and Vanessa Krammes, both of Connersvile two great-granddaughters: Ava Miller and Rachel Weaver; two sisters: Luella Shera and her husband, Don of Laurel; Cheryl Ellman of Connersville; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Simona was preceded in death by her step-son: Russell Overbeck and a niece: Sonya Revalee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Pastor Dana Hadden of Hanna’s Creek Christian Church in Union County, officiating. Interment will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery in Wayne County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday where memorial contributions may be made to the Tatman Children’s Christmas Fund.
