Tamara Belle “Tammy” Workman, 65, of Connersville died October 25, 2017 at her residence.
A native of Connersville, Tammy was born March 6, 1952 to Harry D. and Pansy Blossom Charles Williams and graduated from Connersville High School in 1971 where she was the Majorettes Drum Captain. On September 21, 1974, she married George W. Workman, Sr. at First Baptist Church, Connersville. For several years, Tammy served as Girl Scout leader and as a 4-H leader. She attended Crosspointe Biker Church with her family. Tammy loved collecting John Deere novelties and listening to old country music. Being the nurturer she was, Tammy was christened as Mom and Grandma to all. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing softball. Tammy especially enjoyed the time spent with her family and listening to her grandson play the guitar.
Tammy is survived by her husband of forty-three years, George Sr.; her children and their spouses: George W. Workman, Jr. and Lorraine of Richmond; Peggy Jo Ketcham and Jeremy; Betty Jo Fohl and Shawn, all of Connersville; her siblings: Gary Precht of Brownsville and Geneva Dorris of Indianapolis; her grandchildren: Justin Walker, Ashley Walker, Tyler W. Workman, Tristan Ketcham, Lancetin Workman, Garrett Ketchamm, Lanedon Frye and Lillian Ketcham; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Tammy is preceded in death by her granddaughter: Tomi Lynn Ketcham and her siblings: Charles R. Williams, Betty Jane Morgan and Bob Durham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Tim Billups, officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Diabetes Support Group.
