Terry Snodgrass

September 14, 1953 — November 30, 2024

Liberty

In Loving Memory of Terry Lee Snodgrass 1953 - 2024 It is with deep sadness that the family of Terry Snodgrass, known as Buckwheat to those that knew him well, left this world on Saturday, November 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Terry was a devoted husband, father, papaw, tireless worker, tinkerer, and steadfast friend. He built a life on his own terms that was defined by stubborn strength. Terry was born on September 14, 1953, to George and Evelyn (Horn) Snodgrass, who preceded him in death. Growing up, Terry and his brother, Donald (1954-1989), kept their parents on their toes. The loss of his brother, and then his parents, left a hole in his heart that was never filled. The family that remains behind can only imagine the beauty of their reunion in the afterlife. Terry is survived by his wife, Karen, who will forever cherish the memories they shared for over 42 years. His memory will also be close to the hearts of their children, Shelly (Mark) Record, David Heckman, as well as six grandchildren – Hannah, Tyler (2000), Hailey and Jameson Heckman, and Lucas and Madelyn Record – as well as two great-grandchildren. Though his hands were calloused from years of labor, his heart remained tender and full of warmth for the special people in his life. He called Karen his best friend and never missed a chance to tell her that he loved her. They spoke their own language, like a round of Jeopardy where only they knew the category and answers. As Karen would say, “He would argue with me even when he knew I was right.” They were an inseparable match who were fated from the start. Over the years, Terry had several hobbies. He loved collecting, tinkering in his garage, mechanics, painting, and home improvement projects. He took great pride in his work and accomplishments. A true parent in every way, Terry was more than a stepparent to David and Shelly; he was a gift and a steadfast presence in their lives. From the moment he entered their world, he embraced them not as stepchildren, but as his own, proving every day that family is defined not by blood, but by the love we share. His legacy lives on in the countless lessons he taught them and the memories – both of high and low notes – they hold dear. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave so freely will forever remain in their hearts. As we say goodbye, we remember Terry as a person who loved a good time and as a soul whose music will play on forever in our hearts. A visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. A time of sharing will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Acute Myeloid Leukemia or the American Red Cross in Terry's honor.
