Thomas J. Jenkins, 71, of Liberty, died Sunday morning, October 7, 2012, at Reid Hospital, Richmond.
Thomas was born in Connersville on March 27, 1941 to Joseph and Gertrude Jenkins, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1959, he graduated from Short High School in Liberty and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. On June 18, 1994, he was married in Liberty to the former Judith Gray (Bell). Thomas had been employed as as controller at Ball Corporation, Muncie, and in Springdale, Arkansas. Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family. In his leisure time, he liked gardening, playing cards, hunting and fishing.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 18 years; his son: Joe Jenkins and his wife, Kelley of Fairview, Texas; his daughter: Becky Jenkins of Carmel; a brother: Robert “Bob” Jenkins and his wife, Pam of Carmel; two step-sons, Kevin Bell and his wife, Debbie of West College Corner; and Mark Bell and his wife, Angie of Liberty; seven grandchildren:

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Rev. Scott Bell of Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church and Judge Matt Cox officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery, West College Corner. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
