Thomazine Kirkham

Thomazine (Tommie) Kirkham, 96, formerly of Connersville, IN, passed away peacefully Dec. 8, 2019 in Minnetonka, MN at New Perspective Senior Living. Tommie was born Nov. 19, 1923 in Orleans, IN, to Stephen and Zola (Dillon) Wilfong. After graduation from high school she attended Methodist Hospital School of nursing, receiving her RN degree in 1946. She worked as a nurse in pediatrics, surgery and as a school nurse in the Connersville, IN school system during her career. Tommie was active in many civic organizations and was a dedicated member of Disciples of Christ churches. After the death of her husband Max in 1986, Tommie lived in several cities to be close to her daughters - Carmel, IN, St. Louis, MO, Newark, OH, and Minnetonka, MN. Tommie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Max Kirkham, son Robert, and son-in-law Keith Lucas. Surviving are brother William (Ruth) Wilfong of Indianapolis, IN, daughters Sara Lucas of St. Louis, MO, and Suzanne (David) Aschenbeck of Minnetonka, MN, grandchildren Amy Hughes, Chris Niehaus, Noel Niehaus, Kurt (Anna) Aschenbeck, Laura Vogel, and Anna (Aaron) Yoder, great-grandchildren Zoe, Maggie, and Claire Hughes, Micah and Phineas Vogel, Berney Aschenbeck, and Isaac Yoder, nephew Stephen (Dorothy) Wilfong and niece Leslie (David) Surhe. A graveside service will be conducted at 3p.m. Friday, December 20, 2019 at Dale Cemetery, section K, in Connersville. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Meyers Chapel, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and also, Friday December 20, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, 800 Central Ave Connersville, Indiana 47331.
