Troy Woodruff Gulley, 49, Liberty, died Friday, June 15, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Richmond, IN, on October 8, 1962, to Larry A. and Betty Ann Woodruff Gulley. Troy was a 1981 graduate of Union County High School and a life long resident of Union County. He participated in high school athletics and thoroughly enjoyed baseball, basketball, and tennis.
Troy was employed by Whitewater Valley R.E.M.C. as an utility lineman for 24 years and had completed lineman school and served his apprenticeship. He loved his job and co-workers.
Troy was an avid Bengals fan who was willing to enter any debate to defend his precious Bengals. Wins and losses were of no concern to him, because his steadfast loyalty could not be questioned.
He enjoyed the outdoors. In his spare time, Troy loved to deer hunt and fish. He taught many members of his family to enjoy these activities as well.
Troy and his wife, Carla, have resided on the same farm for 18 of their 28 years of marriage. He loved the peacefulness and solitude of his home, where he and Carla raised their family. Troy was surrounded by his children and grandchildren, spending time with them was his favorite pastime.
Troy attended Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville. He had recently rededicated his life to Christ, and his faith journey led him Home.
Besides his parents and wife, Troy is survived by his children and their spouses: Chelsie Hughes and Rusty of Liberty; Craig Davis and Amy of Connersville; Chandra Hoskins and Tom of Liberty; grandchildren: Hallie and Hagen Hughes; Colten Davis and Caden Hoskins; siblings and their spouses: Tony Gulley and Lynda of Liberty; Tonya Kerns and Mark of Middletown, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rev. Erlie and Lillian Gulley, Harold and Dorothy Woodruff.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Church of Christ with Pastor John Reynolds of Calvary Baptist Church, Connersville, officiating. Interment will follow in New Fairfield Cemetery, Franklin County. Friends may visit from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
