Trula Paxton, 91, of College Corner died Sunday, February 14, 2016, at McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford.
Trula was born in Franklin County on October 11, 1924, to Edgar and Susie Edna Brauchla Shaffer. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1942 and Methodist School of Nursing in 1945 as a Registered Nurse. Trula married William Paxton on November 14, 1953, in Centerville, Indiana. She worked as a nurse at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, OH, and McCullough Hyde Hospital in Oxford, OH, retiring in 1990 after 20 years of service. Trula was a member of College Corner Presbyterian Church and the Chattering Stitchers. Trula enjoyed reading, watching and feeding birds, camping, and spending time with the family.
Trula is survived by two sons: Charles Paxton and wife, Donna of Liberty, Mark Paxton and wife, Jill of McDonough, GA; three daughters: Denise Paxton of Liberty; Karla Blossom and husband, Jeff of Brownsville, and Marcia Reece and husband, David of Everton; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Trula was preceded in death by her husband, who died July 16, 2015, a sister Marjorie White, and two brothers: Lee and George Shaffer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Showalter Blackwell Tilton Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, in College Corner with Rev. Jason Bantz of the College Corner Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Old Franklin Cemetery in Franklin County. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2016, where memorial contributions may be made to Old Franklin Cemetery.
